Search and Local Media
Curious about SEO and how it merges with NTR?
Let’s start with some basics. Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving organic results for a website (also referred to as “natural” results). Organic search results on the left side of a search results page contrast with pay-per-click ads (also called “sponsored links” on the right side of a search results page). Each search engine results page (referred to as a “SERP”) displays 10 organic results, based on the user’s search query.
SEO can also be used as an acronym – in reference to search engine optimizers (that’s us!). Our program works a little different than most. Instead of working on a company’s existing web page, we build a new one, using all original copy points and a root domain in a category already familiar to search engines. This new page links to the company’s existing website and can even drive the original website higher. Our principal goal is to maximize visibility on the new page we build for advertisers. In essence, any business participating in our program now has two different websites and has doubled its online visibility and search ranking potential.

Algorithm: A series of formulas used by search engines to determine page ranking of a given web page or website. Many webmasters believe that potentially hundreds of algorithms are used in the determination of a web site ranking.
Black Hat SEO: Various techniques considered to be trickery and/or misleading in an effort improve the SERP of a given web page or website for monetary benefit. Such efforts can lead to a website being removed from the search engine’s rankings altogether.
Crawl: Search engines send out spiders to index web pages and determine in what order a page will be ranked. To see the last time a spider visited your website, click “cache” below your website’s description on the search results page. Check the top of the page for the last visited date.
Page Rank (PR): Many webmasters feel Page Rank no longer carries the importance it once did in SEO – others question its effectiveness at all. A page “PR” value is the relative value of a single web page compared with other pages on the Internet. To see the page rank of any web page, download the Google toolbar which includes the ability to view the Page Rank of a given web page.
Pay Per Click: Unlike organic results which cannot be purchased, PPC offers advertisers the opportunity to buy a link position in the sponsored section of a website, usually on a highest bidder format.
